Volkswagen India Sales March 2011

The Volkswagen brand continues its impressive growth with 8,095 vehicles sold in the month of March 2011.
The Polo and Vento continue to set standards in their respective segments with combined sales of 7854 units in March alone.
Commenting on the growth in sales, Neeraj Garg, Member of Board, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said “March was a busy month for us at Volkswagen Passenger cars with the launch of the IPL edition Vento, the all-new Passat with Bluemotion Technologies and the Think Blue. campaign.

Our sales have been growing consistently and look forward to continue strengthening our position further especially with the exciting products that we would be starting to sell next month onwards.”

Volkswagen, Europe’s leading car manufacturer unveiled the all-new Passat with the highly innovative BlueMotion Technologies for India today.
The all-new Passat will be available to customers in the diesel variant in both automatic and manual transmissions, starting at 20.80 lakh ex showroom Delhi. Sales of the all new Passat will start with the Highline and Comfortline which will later be followed by the Trendline.

Volkswagen India Rolls out 50000th Car from Chakan Plant

Volkswagen India commemorated the roll-out of the 50,000th car from its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune. Dr. Arno Antlitz Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Brand and General Representative of Management Volkswagen Group and Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited were present on the occasion along with Mr. Holger Nestler, Executive Director, Technical, Volkswagen India Private Limited.

With less than even two years having passed from the start of production at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan, the roll-out of the 50000th car off the production line marks another milestone in Volkswagen’s India journey and reiterates the fact that production at the plant is in line with scheduled ramp-up plans. The Chakan plant currently produces three models, the Volkswagen Polo, the Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Fabia. The 50,000th car rolled out of the plant was a Volkswagen Vento.

“Touching the 50,000th car production landmark marks the beginning of Volkswagen’s next growth chapter in India. Realizing this target in just over a year’s time from the start of production is a testimony to the popularity Volkswagen cars enjoy in the Indian market. I wish the Volkswagen team great success for their future initiatives and I am confident that the team here will continue this momentum of growth,” expressed Dr. Arno Antlitz on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. John Chacko said, “It is a moment of great pride and satisfaction for all of us at Volkswagen on achieving this milestone in such a short span of time. Volkswagen has focused on introducing new products based on understanding of customer needs. The outstanding acceptance of all our products is a testimony to the success of that approach. The continuous support from our employees has made this possible today. I would like to thank the team at Chakan for their undying spirit and motivation and congratulate them for demonstrating how much can be achieved in a very short period of time.”

The Pune plant is one of the most modern in the Volkswagen Group which globally has 61 plants. It covers all stages in the production process from press shop through body shop and paint shop to final assembly. With a total financial commitment amounting to Rs. 3,800 crores (580 million Euros), the Volkswagen plant in Pune is the largest investment to date by a German company in India. With the investment coupled with the vertical integration of suppliers and the employment of people, Volkswagen India demonstrates its commitment to the new site.

Volkswagen Polo Price Hiked by Volkswagen India

Volkswagen Polo India
Volkswagen announced an increase in the price of the Polo. Starting January 1, 2011 this popular hatchback will witness a hike starting at 2.9 percent.

Commenting on this, Neeraj Garg, member of Board & Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said "We have been faced with constant rise in input cost over the past several months and have tried our best to absorb it.

However, in order to continue to maintain our quality standards that our customers expect from us we have had to increase the price by a small percentage."

He further added "Customers, who book the Polo until December 31, 2010, will be able to avail their favourite car at the present prices."

The Polo was launched in India in March 2010 and has already sold more than 17,000 units as of November 2010.

Manufactured in Volkswagen's plant in Chakan, the Polo is the first locally made Volkswagen model to be launched by the European automobile major in India.

Volkswagen India Sales Grow 131.9% in First 9 Months of 2010

The Volkswagen Group continues its forward momentum in India with the year 2010 promising to be a milestone in its India success story. The Volkswagen Group comprising of the three brands- Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen achieved an extraordinary growth in deliveries to customers of 131.9 per cent in the period January to September 2010. The three brands together delivered in total 32,359 vehicles to customers in the first nine months 2010 as compared to 13,956 cars sold from January to September 2009.

The Volkswagen brand has emerged as the largest selling brand of the Group in the period with impressive sales figures of 15,957 vehicles in the period as against 2,201 cars sold in the corresponding period in 2009, a big leap of 625.0 per cent. Skoda sold 14,224 cars from January to September 2010 as against 10,415 cars sold between in the corresponding period in 2009, a growth of 36.6 per cent. Audi reported a growth of 63.4 per cent percent with 2,178 vehicles sold in nine month period in 2010 as against 1,333 vehicles sold last year.

In the period January to September 2010 the best-selling car from Volkswagen is the Polo. It is one outstanding model in the Volkswagen Group’s exceptional range making the Polo a benchmark in the compact segment. It is manufactured in the Chakan plant, Pune. Another sought after car from the Volkswagen brand is the Jetta, which was launched in India in 2008. It is assembled in the Volkswagen’s Group Aurangabad plant.

The best selling cars of Skoda in the first nine months 2010 are the Fabia and the Laura. The Fabia, a supermini is amongst the popular choices under the hatchback segment. It is manufactured in the Chakan Plant in Pune.

Audi A4 and Audi A6 are amongst the list of top luxury cars worldwide and were best selling from January to September 2010. Both are assembled in Aurangabad plant along with the Audi Q5. In the luxury SUV segment too, Audi continues to retain its leadership position with the Q5 and the Q7 registering impressive sales.

Volkswagen Group continues to strengthen its presence in India and is moving rapidly towards making a mark in the country. Currently the three brands of the Group offer in total 18 different models, from the high end luxury sedan to the value-for-money compact car.

Volkswagen India in Association with IGCC to Celebrate Oktoberfest 2010

Volkswagen India in association with Indo German Chamber of Commerce is all set to celebrate the Oktoberfest 2010 with great fun and splendour during the Nanoli Pune Derby Weekend at the Pune Turf Club. This is the second time that the Oktoberfest is being hosted by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) in association with Volkswagen India at the Royal Western India Turf Club.

Mr Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director Volkswagen India Private Limited will be giving away a Volkswagen Polo as a grand prize to the winner of the ‘Contest of Skills' at the Derby. The ‘Contest of Skills' requires the spectators to predict correctly the winner and the runner up of the first race. A big replica of the Volkswagen Polo key will be presented to the winner of the ‘Contest of Skills'. The Nanoli Pune Derby weekend will feature eight races on Saturday, 9th October and nine races on Sunday, 10th October, two of which would be the Volkswagen India Trophy races. Mr Mueller will also be presenting the Volkswagen Trophy to the winner of the first Race.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Mueller said, “We are proud to be associated with the IGCC and bring to you the Oktoberfest for the second time in Pune, the home of Volkswagen in India. I am also very excited about presenting the Volkswagen Polo, a made-in-India car produced at our Pune Plant, to the winner of the ‘Contest of Skills' at the fest in Pune.”

To honor the IGCC-VW Diamond sponsorship association with the fest, two races sponsored by Volkswagen will take place on Sunday, 10th Oct '10. The winner of second race will also be awarded The Volkswagen India Trophy by Dr John Chacko, Managing Director Technical Volkswagen India Private Limited. With the Polo and Vento being displayed at the derby, the fest also provide a special opportunity for those present to have a look and feel of these cars that have caused ripples in the Indian small and mid size car market.

Volkswagen Polo 1.6 l Price @ Rs 6.16 Lakhs Launched in India

After the successful debut of the 1.2 l Polo in India earlier this year, Volkswagen, Europe's largest car manufacturer introduces its powerful 1.6 l Polo variant into the market. This hot hatchback will be available to customers in the highline petrol variant at Rs. 6.16 lakhs, ex showroom New Delhi.

Volkswagen India Record Sales

Volkswagen Group India breaks its own record by surpassing the cumulative sales figures of the year 2009 by the month of July 2010. The three brands of the Group - Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen - delivered in total 21,333 vehicles to customers from January to July 2010 as compared to 9664 cars sold from January to July 2009, up by 11,669 cars, taking the company's growth to the highest ever witnessed in India at 120.7% percent.

Speaking to the media at the SIAM Annual Convention, Mr. Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director Volkswagen India Private Limited said, "We are making great progress with our performance in India. Our current delivery figures are overwhelming and in-line with our plans. That proves we are present in the right market with the right products at the right time. The Volkswagen Polo has seen a great ongoing response from the market and the Volkswagen Vento is already witnessing much anticipation amongst the customers."

The start of production of Volkswagen's Vento, the latest offering from the Volkswagen Group in India, has already started. The Vento will further enhance Volkswagen's presence in the Indian market. Mueller further added, "We are certain about meeting our targets and expect to double our sales in 2010. Keeping in mind our growth strategy we have also significantly increased our dealer base in India. The Volkswagen Group's three brands- Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen now have around 130 dealerships and many more will be added in the near future."

Volkswagen Vento Launched in India; Price Starts Petrol @ 6.99 Lakh & Diesel @ 7.99 Lakh Rs.

The Volkswagen Vento will be available to customers starting at Rs 6.99 lakhs, for the 1.6 litre petrol variant and Rs. 7.99 lakhs for the diesel variant, Ex. Showroom New Delhi

Volkswagen, Europe's largest car maker launched it's much awaited entry level premium sedan the Vento today. The Vento will be available to customers starting at Rs 6.99 lakhs, for the 1.6 litre petrol variant and Rs. 7.99 lakhs for the diesel variant, Ex. Showroom New Delhi.

Speaking about Volkswagen's market introduction of the Vento, Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said, “The New Vento, which stands for best in class features and German engineering is poised to set a benchmark in its segment. Designed for the Indian market it will be a strong addition to our product portfolio. Adding further he said, “The New Vento is an extension of our commitment towards the Indian consumers of providing the best quality products at competitive prices.” The New Vento will go on sale from September 6, 2010 across India in all Volkswagen dealers.

The New Volkswagen Vento Features, Variant & Specifications:
The petrol variant of the Volkswagen Vento is equipped with a 1.6 litre engine with an output of 105PS @ 5250 rpm and a Torque of 153NM @ 3800 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gear box and boast of fuel efficiency of 15.83 Km/l and 14.4Km/l respectively. The diesel variant is also equipped with the 1.6 litre engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with an output of 105PS @ 4400 rpm and a Torque of 250 NM @ 1500-2500 rpm and has a fuel efficiency of 20.54 Km/l.

The New Volkswagen Vento will be available in two trim levels including Trendline, Highline. The interior is equipped with storage compartment in front doors for 1 litre Bottles, sunglass storage inside glove box, foldable roof handles with coat hooks, front and rear centre armrest, cupholders and “Livon” fabric upholstery are proof of the sure instinct of high design quality which interprets the classic elements of the Vento in a contemporary way.

In exteriors too, the Vento offers Body colored bumpers, Chrome inlays in front grille, body coloured exterior door handles & mirrors (Highline), rough road package with increased ground clearance and partially zinc coated body with 6 years anti-rust warranty. With regards to safety, the Vento Highline is equipped with ABS, Front

Multi function information display including door opening warning, height adjustable driving seats, a steering wheel adjustable for reach and rake which improves the drivability of the passenger are also available. The Vento will establish a leadership position in its class with category defining attributes of space, style, comfort and safety. It will be manufactured at Volkswagen's Chakan plant with an annual capacity of 110,000 cars.

Volkswagen India Sales at 2597 Units in July 2010

Volkswagen Brand clocked a total sale of 2597 in July 2010 in India. On a month on month basis, Volkswagen Jetta has shown a growth of 36% and the Passat 67% in July 2010 as compared to July 2009. On a year on year basis, Volkswagen Jetta has increased by 68% and the Passat 101% in Jan- July 2010 as compared to Jan - July 2009.

The Volkswagen Iconic New Beetle continued its growth path with customer deliveries reaching at 301 units for the period of Jan-July 2010 and the Touareg at 69 units for the same period. Volkswagen's entry into the hatchback segment with the New Polo has received an astounding response nationwide. Sales for the New Polo commenced in March 2010 and have so far delivered 6618 units.

Volkswagen unveiled its much awaited premium sedan the Vento in July 2010. The product has generated a huge amount of interest in the minds of consumers. Volkswagen Vento will be officially launched in the last quarter of this calender year.

Volkswagen, the largest carmaker in Europe sells its broad model range from the Fox to the Phaeton in more than 150 countries worldwide. Volkswagen currently offers the Jetta and Passat assembled in Aurangabad for the Indian consumers. Also available on sale now is the iconic New Beetle, the powerful SUV Touareg, Phaeton and the New Volkswagen Polo.
